Recent projects:
- Member of the advisory committee of a follow-up study on the prevalence of health problems and the utilisation of health care among refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Iran and Somalia living in the Netherlands. (Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
- Writing a funding proposal for the Gates Foundation on the assessment of a comprehensive community prevention approach for HIV, TB, hypertension and diabetes, linked to a monitoring system for the occurrence of disease. (Ndlovu Care Group)
- Analysing data on diarrhoea incidence in rural communities with or without water interventions in Limpopo Province. (Tshwane University of Technology)
- Teaching Introduction to Epidemiology for participants in the Forced Migration Studies Programme. (Wits University)
- Analysing data and writing an article on the validation of verbal autopsies in the Agincourt Demographic and Health Surveillance system. (Wits University)
- Writing a literature review on growth faltering and impaired development (prevalence, risk factors and interventions) in children under 2 in developing countries, as part of a study proposal for the Gates Foundation. (Wits University)
- Providing editorial support to a book that is part of an INDEPTH initiative to better understand Migration and Urbanization in African and Asian settings. This is done by e.g. reviewing all the chapters for methodological quality. (Wits University)
- Editor of an online-magazine (www.sacemaquarterly.com) in which articles are published relating to e.g. tuberculosis, HIV and statistical modelling, based on academic publications but re-written for a wider public (SACEMA Stellenbosch University).
- Providing support to a systematic review (e.g. identification of RCTs and the data extraction from the studies found) on trends in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of malaria treatment and prevention in Africa. (South African Cochrane Centre)
- Reviewing the methods for estimating indicators for health care use for HIV/AIDS. Continued consulting on the academic integrity of outputs of projects on identifying and mapping HIV/AIDS service provision. (Foundation for Professional Development)
- Developing the framework of the Master of Public Health program that will be launched at the University of Fort Hare.
